ABOUT DOODLES

Doodle's are a Wonder hybrid that is strong, athletic, intelligent, highly trainable, affectionate, with an even temperament, and will just break thier Heart to please you. They are terrific family dogs, great with children, and friendly to other dogs and people.  they also make excellent service and therapy dogs. They are very adaptable in most living situations, They need a moderate amount of exercise, a fenced yard or time for daily playtime is important for the mental and physical growth of your pup, their coats are generally low maintenance.

The first deliberately bred Doodle was a Labradoodle born in Australia. In 1989 a blind woman asked the Royal Guide Dog Association in Kew if they had a dog for her that would not aggravate her husband's allergies. This got them thinking about crossing a Labrador Retriever with a Poodle. A Labrador was chosen because Labs are strong, friendly, eager to please, intelligent, and devoted. They are the most common guide dog for the blind. A Poodle was chosen because Poodles have hair that is almost human-like and they do not shed or produce as much dander as most other dogs. They are also intelligent and highly trainable.
This breeding produced a pup named Sultan, his coat did not enflame the allergies of her husband. Since then, breeders have continued developing the Labradoodle and it was a natural step to cross a Golden Retriever with a Poodle to create Goldendoodles. Which have proven to be generally consistent in there coat type and look.

Since Sultan, breeders have worked hard to create great dogs. This offspring of a Poodle and Labrador or Golden Retriever is called the First Generation, or F1. Some Doodles are also "backcrosses" of a Doodle and and a Poodle, called F1B. They are 75% Poodle. (the most likely cross to be allergy friendly and non shedding)
Some Doodles are crosses of  Doodles with Doodles (seems that defeats the purpose to get  non shedding allergy friendly pups) but there are no right or wrong breeding's as each mating will reflect the individual breeder's vision of the Doodle. That's why it is important that you find a breeder who You feel comfortable with and  can fill your needs. and is willing to be available for the life of you dog. We specialize in breeding high quality Goldendoodles and
F1 and F1B Labradoodles for loving family pets and dedicated service or therapy dogs

DOODLES AND ALLERGYS

Although Sultan and many other Doodles do not cause allergic reactions, No Breeder can guarantee you a allergy friendly Non-shedding Doodle, especially with First generations. Therefore it is important that all pups are placed in homes where there are no allergy/asthma  issues,or we have a game plan in place in case you do have a reaction.
I want all my pups to go to lifetime homes no matter what. If you or a family member has serious allergy issues, you may want to consider getting tested ,if you are allergic to dander, normally a F1B will do the trick,if it is saliva then you could be hard pressed to find a breed you would be able to live with.

It is impossible to test your allergy response with our puppies or breeding dogs, because dander is present any place you go here.,Our dogs live in the house with us. We do suggest that you meet as many Doodles as you can and we can direct you to prior owners who would just love to show off their dogs. However each and every doodle is different, there is no way to send hair or salivia samples to you, for the simple fact that the puppy coat is different from what the adult coat will be, if you are allergic to salivia ,i would recommend a female ,F1b Labradoodle. females are lower in PH levels, The F1B Labradoodle is the most likly to be non shedding and allergy friendly of any doodle hands Down!

COAT TYPES

Doodles can have a wide variety of coats. Some may need little brushing and grooming, others may need almost daily care. Some may have the continuous hair growth typical of a Poodle (or human) so they will need cutting or trimming every 2-3 months.

There is even a difference between the puppy coat and the adult coat and the transition usually occurs from 8-12 months of age. Sometimes this transition is accompanied by moderate matting and will require a more grooming daily. We recommend a teddy bear cut 2-3inches all over, this is a scissor cut only,(not clippers ,a shaved down doodle is not a pretty site, :-) ),,If you choose this cut is important to find a master groomer in your area that is experienced in scissoring a dog, This will make your Doodle look like a  puppy all the time, its a really cute cut!!

Hair Coat. The  coat on a F1 Doodle. may be short and wiry, (kinda a Irish wolfhound look) ,Wavy,(long and wispy), or it can be full and fluffy. Because an F1 is 50% Labrador or 50% Golden, there may be light to moderate shedding, although some may not shed at all. F1 Labradoodles litters are a mixed bag. Some may require heavy grooming as they mature, others may not. They are NOT recommended for severe allergy or asthma sufferers. In our observations F1 Goldendoodles/Aussiedoodles or F1B Labradoodles are best choice in homes with allergy issues.

Fleece Coat. *wavy* This coat will usually be found on a F1b labradoodle and higher or aussiedoodles, as well as dog  that have had Doodle to Doodle breeding's, although an F1 frequently  expresses this type of coat as well
When they mature they usually have a lose spiral curl that is nonshedding and high maintenance.

Wool Coat. *wavy curly*May have tight curls somewhat  like a Poodle and are also usually nonshedding and and will require a bit more grooming.

Other Descriptions. Some people describe Doodle coats with such colorful adjectives as fluffy, full coated, Retrievery, Poodley, not Poodle-like, flat coated, wavy, Terrier, and Irish wolfhound look. These descriptions help us in our communications and we will be able to guide you to the right litter and pup for your specific  needs.
